The ‘endless mode’ is less engaging than I expected.

One complaint is that Warpips can only be used by single players. This creates a strategic tension that allows you to decide whether to use the team now or wait for a map with more uses. There is a meta-progression in campaign mode where units have a fixed number and can be unlocked. These include unit counters, global abilities, and tradeoffs between short-term economy and quick-term unit rushes. Warpips seemed a little too simple for me.

Instead, levels are a linear tug-of-war between two sides. However, unlike other games, it does not require tactical positioning. Warpips, an RTS, is a simplified version of the classic RTS. I prefer RTSes, which simplify the process by removing some of the systems to manage. While these games are great tests of skill, managing the unit’s abilities, position in battle, counters, and economy back home is too overwhelming. I feel incompetent when I try to compete with Starcraft and Age of Empires. Although I enjoy real-time strategy, the top eSports games are a little too complicated for me. You can deploy troops, launch missiles, call down airstrikes, and even dispatch airplanes without micromanaging.
